Timing Operations Administrator (Seasonal)
The Timing Operations Administrator position is an opportunity for aspiring candidates to assist with the implementation of the Pitch Clock Regulations in Major League Baseball.
Responsibilities:
● Assist the Timing Operations Department supporting the operation of the Pitch Clock during Major League games.
● Communicate with Field Timing Coordinators (“FTC”) prior to games and during play when necessary, to ensure consistent and accurate operation of the timer.
● Create daily and weekly reports to be distributed internally within the Commissioner's Office, Umpires, and FTC’s.
● Accurately write evaluations during games to assess and provide feedback for FTCs implementation of the Pitch Clock Regulations.
● Responsible for providing real time updates to the Commissioner’s Office in relation to in-game Pitch Clock related situations.
● Collaborate with departments across the Commissioner’s Office such as the Umpiring Department to provide support for day-to-day operations and relevant projects.
● Assist in the tracking of general Pitch Clock trends throughout the season and the potential implications.
Requirements:
● Must be extremely detail-oriented.
● Must be able to communicate clearly, multitask, and prioritize responsibilities.
● Must be able to handle live, fast-paced, and high-pressure situations.
● Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
● Must demonstrate a high level of professionalism and neutrality at all times including when working with and around MLB Umpires and MLBOC employees.
● Must have strong reasoning abilities and critical thinking skills.
● Must have clear and precise writing skills.
● Strong knowledge of MLB rules and baseball specific language.
● Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Skills (Not required):
● The ability to identify MLB players and managers
● Previous experience working in baseball
● Experience with SQL, R, or Python
Schedule:
● Candidate must be able to work nights and weekends during the season.
● Candidate can work 32-40 hours per week.
Hiring Range: $25-$28
