Simon Bergson, founder and owner of Manhattan Beer Distributors, has done exactly this, growing our business over the last 40 years to exponential heights. Manhattan Beer Distributors now has 1.5 million feet of warehouse space, the distribution rights to 300 brands, 400 trucks and services 15 counties. Our aim is to provide great service to all of our customers from the convenience store owner to our big chain operators, restaurants, bars and hotels.

The Ideal Candidate
This position is ideal for an individual entering the analytics field, with an interest in logistics and supply chain. If you have a foundation in data analysis, strong proficiency in tools such as Tableau, Power BI and Excel, and the ability to collect, clean, and organize data from various sources, this is a great opportunity. It’s very helpful if you have some experience in transportation, logistics or warehousing, but it’s not necessary.
This role is key to enhancing the performance, safety, and cost-efficiency of our fleet operations. By providing insights into performance metrics, identifying improvement areas, and supporting safety initiatives, the Junior Operations Analyst will play a critical part in the ongoing optimization of our fleet management practices.
Your Main Focus:
- Fleet and Driver Performance Metrics: Analyze driving behavior data, including harsh braking, rapid acceleration, cornering, and other unsafe practices. Evaluate individual driver performance, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and adherence to routes.
- Incident Reporting: Review and report on incidents captured by onboard cameras, detailing the context, outcomes, and potential preventative measures.
- Operational Efficiency and Cost Analysis: Assess fleet performance metrics such as fuel efficiency, vehicle utilization, delivery times, and maintenance schedules. Provide insights into areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities (e.g., fuel consumption, maintenance, insurance).
- Benchmarking: Compare fleet performance against industry standards or historical data to identify improvement areas and set performance benchmarks.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure fleet operations comply with local regulations, and report potential compliance issues.
- Safety Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on safety incidents, providing recommendations for improvements based on driver performance and safety trends.
- Data and Video System Management: Monitor and assess the effectiveness of video review systems (e.g., Lytx) and other technology tools. Ensure accurate documentation and maintain organized records for analysis.
- Cross Departmental Initiatives: Collaborate with the training and safety department to analyze trends in driver behavior, identifying areas where additional training or resources are necessary. Support the creation and refinement of targeted safety and performance initiatives based on recurring patterns or issues observed in driver performance data.
Position Requirements:
- Degree in related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in an analytics role.
- Experience in Power BI, Tableau and other data analytics software.
- Strong organizational skills to manage high volumes of footage and data across a large fleet.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to review daily footage across the fleet.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other data analysis tools.
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving systems, processes, and technologies.
Strong Plus
- Exposure in transportation, logistics or fleet management.
- Familiarity with onboard vehicle camera systems and performance monitoring software is strongly preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to analyze video and performance data accurately.
- Experience with telematics systems or driver safety software.
- Basic understanding of vehicle operations and driving safety standards.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday // 8:00am - 4:30pm
Salary: $65,000.00-$70,000.00
It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
