The Leave of Absence Manager will be responsible for overseeing the management of all employee leave requests, including medical, family, personal, and other forms of leave. This role ensures that leave policies are followed, employees are supported throughout the leave process, and company practices comply with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
Main Focus:
- Administer and track various types of employee leave, including but not limited to FMLA, medical leave, parental leave, paid time off (PTO), and other leave entitlements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant legislation (e.g., Family and Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Paid Family Leave) by reviewing and approving leave requests, monitoring leave balances, and managing required documentation.
- Determine eligibility for benefits based on legal regulations and company policies.
- Assist in determining eligibility for returning to work upon the end of the claim.
- Provide excellent customer service to the internal customer, by providing clear and empathetic communication to employees about their leave options, processes, and expectations. Guide employees through the application and approval processes for leave.
- Address any disputes or concerns related to employee leave, including approval delays, miscommunication, or eligibility concerns. Ensure that all issues are resolved in a timely and fair manner.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of leave requests, medical certifications, and return-to-work documentation. Ensure all leave records are properly filed and stored according to company policies and legal requirements.
- Monitor and report on leave trends, providing regular updates and analysis to senior management. Maintain metrics for leave types and track employee leave usage.
- Ensure impeccable record keeping in company HRIS and Risk Management system.
- Prepare for and attend incident investigation and claims review meetings.
- Identify opportunities for improving leave management processes, tools, and employee experience. Stay current on changes to leave laws and company policies.Assist in HR initiatives as needed.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
- At least 3-5 years of experience in human resources, with a focus on leave management, employee benefits, or employee relations. Previous experience in a management or supervisory role is preferred.
- Professional HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, etc.) is a plus. Certifications related to leave management, such as CLMP (Certified Leave Management Professional), are desirable.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, particularly those related to leave entitlements (FMLA, ADA, PTO, etc.).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Proficient in HRIS, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), and leave management software.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- High degree of empathy and professionalism when dealing with employees in sensitive situations.
- Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish.

Salary: $95,000.00-$105,000.00 |
It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus. |
