Our regulatory permissions and governance structure are the foundations of our business. We are regulated and supervised as an Authorised Electronic Money Institution (AEMI) in the UK by the Financial Conduct Authority and in the Netherlands by De Nederlandsche Bank.

About the role
The Corporate Onboarding Associate is responsible for owning and managing CDD & Compliance Assessments of our more complex clients. Working in the First Line CDD Operations Function, the team are responsible for mitigating risks to Modulr as they relate to the provision of our services as an Electronic Money Institution, with a heavy focus on AML, CTF and Sanction control frameworks, but also considering other key aspects such as proposition, consumer duty and value to the market where applicable. With an ever-changing regulatory environment, we are looking for someone who displays a keen sense of professional curiosity and willingness to review and consider all aspects of compliance as set out in the regulations, providing support and advice to other teams within the business. The key responsibilities of your role will include:
- Performing Client Risk Assessments
- Corporate Onboarding - Customer Due Diligence (including Simplified and Enhanced Due Diligence)
- Performing Partner Audits (Internal and External)
- Stakeholder Engagement (Internal and External)
- Screening for Politically Exposed Persons and Sanctioned Individuals
- Reviewing Policies and Procedures and recommending amendments or changes to these documents in line with Modulr compliance requirements.
About you
The successful Corporate Onboarding Associate will have a track-record in delivering results in a fast-moving scaling business and hence you must be comfortable with change and uncertainty. More specifically the ideal candidate will have:
Regulatory Knowledge
A (high-level) understanding of local regulations such as the Wetter voorkoming van witwassen en financieren van terrorisme (Wwft), Sanctiewet 1970 and Wet op het financieel toezicht (Wft). This knowledge is important to ensure compliance with Dutch financial laws and to effectively manage regulatory risks (together with a 2nd line team).
Industry Experience
Previous experience in a compliance role, ideally in corporate onboarding across various sectors and jurisdictions. Regulatory Interactions: Experience performing AML and Compliance audits and successfully managing remediation of findings. Direct experience in Corporate Onboarding Client Due Diligence [KYB] –or refresh experience; ideally with direct exposure to enhanced risk assessment in a corporate onboarding environment & / or European Corporate Client Due Diligence [KYB].
Analytical Skills
Ability to analyse complex data sets and identify trends or anomalies. Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to address compliance issues effectively.
Attention to Detail
Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in compliance documentation and reporting. Risk Identification: Ability to identify potential compliance risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Clear Communication
Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate compliance issues and requirements. Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders, including clients, senior management and colleagues.
Ethical Judgement and Integrity
High ethical standards and the ability to make decisions that uphold the integrity and reputation of the organisation. Confidentiality: Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
Project Management
Organisational Skills: structured and organised, able to handle the competing pressures of immediate compliance tasks and investigations alongside longer term projects. Time Management: Effective time management skills to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
Leadership
Taking ownership of compliance processes, whilst ensuring that they evolve so that the compliance programme continues to be aligned to the business’s growth plans.

Strong decision-making capabilities, especially in high-pressure situations.

Ability to assess the impact of regulatory changes on the organisation and develop strategies to address them. Innovative Solutions: Developing innovative solutions to compliance challenges.

Skills and experience we are interested in:
- Strong awareness of current Refresh or Audit Procedures and ability to identify issues for these through analysis.
- Experience working as part of an Audit or Customer Due Diligence Team within financial services.
- Awareness of the regulatory landscape Modulr operates in including Dutch regulations such as Wwft, Sanctiewet 1970 and Wft.
