Business Value Consulting (BVC) is a critical, client-facing role where the consultant will work closely with the MongoDB Sales team, playing a key role in driving the business forward. In a pre-sales perspective, BVCs engage with clients to capture and communicate the potential business value that our solutions provide. For post-Sales, BVCs consult with customers to ensure they are seeing value and identify new growth opportunities. You will work across all industries, evaluating the business benefits and financial value to companies primarily in our Enterprise market.
The ideal candidate is excited to help the team scale up with an adaptable and critical thinking mindset, with a combination of sales and business acumen, technology skills (ideally, application development and data oriented) and comfortable communicating quantitative and qualitative value messaging.
This role will be focused in the Americas, primarily supporting West with flexibility to support Mid-West and South regions as needed. The opportunity for remote customer engagements allows us to support multiple Sales regions.
Responsibilities
- Support the sales organization, to impact both tactical and strategic opportunity success of our field sales force
- Develop Business Value Consulting collateral for internal and external use: when new MongoDB products are released, and when a gap or need of the practice is identified
- Serve as a mentor to sellers who may be unfamiliar with this role, and further improve the value selling capabilities of the rest
- Engage with customers using a value-based selling approach to build a compelling narrative that covers the current state, the desired future state, the value in closing the gap, and a delivery plan to ensure their success
- Consult with existing customers in Value Realization activities to ensure they understand the value achieved, improvement opportunities and new value opportunities
- Use business, technical, and financial analyses to understand the baseline and future state capabilities of the customer
- Create and present the business case and the forecasted business impact the customer can achieve using MongoDB solutions
- Translate technical concepts and recommendations into business benefits for management and executives
- Coaching field GTM teams on the use of scaled value platform to generate value messaging content and business cases
- Travel is required but varies throughout the year
Requirements
- B.A. / B.S. from an accredited college; preference for Business Management, Economics, Finance or related degree
- Proven experience as a Business and Technology Strategy Consultant with Business Case experience
- 3-5+ years of experience in business value consulting or business value realization in a technology setting
- Enterprise business and financial modeling experience, familiarity with key financial metrics: ROI, TCO, NPV, IRR
- Polished presentation and interpersonal skills
- Inquisitive personality to facilitate interview sessions with client roles, both business and technical stakeholders
- Experience addressing executive and senior level stakeholders
- Strong technical understanding of enterprise infrastructure, technology stack, software development methodologies (SDLC, Agile, DevOps), RDBMS and/or NoSQL software
- Understanding of Application Development, data, cloud and product management approaches to building and supporting applications
- Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time (while averaging closer to 5-10% travel) for client specific needs
- Strong English communication skills are critical. Spanish speakers could be an advantage though not a minimum requirement

Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package.
