Position Description:
Motus is looking for a Senior Staff Accountant who will be a core contributor to the general ledger accounting function. The Senior Staff Accountant is vital to the month-end close process and will be expected to identify and drive process improvements. This role will report to the Assistant Controller.
Position Duties:
- Prepare month-end journal entries, schedules and reconciliations with supporting documentation
- Lead the monthly revenue recognition process, including the development of revenue reviews and maintenance of the deferred revenue waterfall schedule
- Responsible for accounts receivable aging analysis and calculation of allowance for doubtful accounts, as well as sales tax payable reconciliation
- Analyze commission expense and update capitalized commissions analysis and amortization schedule
- Review R&D costs and run monthly capitalized software analysis and amortization
- Monitor, analyze and explain financial statement and general ledger account fluctuations
- Assist with the annual financial statement audit
- Periodically research and document accounting issues for compliance with GAAP
- Assist in ad-hoc projects as necessary
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably within software SaaS technology industry
- CPA Certification required and public accounting experience preferred
- Knowledge of key accounting principles (ASC 340, 350, 606, 840, 805)
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience with accounting ERP (preferably NetSuite), CRM (preferably Salesforce) and close management software (preferably FloQast)
- Ability to establish effective relationships with management and across business units
- Demonstrate a high degree of accuracy
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Able to prioritize multiple priorities, work cross-functionally and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- High degree of self-motivation and personal drive; Able to work independently in a remote work environment
Where required by law, Motus provides a reasonable range of compensation for specific roles. The pay range for this role is $90,000 - $100,000. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications.
