The Revenue Accounting Manager will be responsible for accounting, reconciling and reporting revenue in accordance with US GAAP revenue accounting standards, Company policies and procedures as well as assisting with system clean from the implementation of a new revenue recognition software. This is a hands-on role that requires ownership and responsibility for periodic and ad hoc reconciliations of various revenue related areas including month end-close, year-end financial statement and related footnotes as well as customer cohort analysis. This position will report directly to the Director of Accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end accounting and reporting of revenue in accordance with US GAAP ASC 606 across the consolidated company
  • Complete month and year-end closing processes and prepare journal entries as applicable:
    • Lead the audit process as it relates to revenue, including managing the auditing requests, support and financial statement disclosure preparation
    • Reconcile monthly revenue to contract detail, including analyzing cash collections, performance obligations and various reporting metrics
    • Investigate and review unique revenue recognition events, including point-in-time (device shipments), over-time (subscription services), percent-of-completion (implementation services) and variable consideration (returns)
    • Perform balance sheet roll forwards of contract asset, deferred revenue and capitalized commissions
    • Be proactive and take initiative when performing tasks to help maintain the integrity of the financial statements and increase efficiencies
  • Assist in system implementation clean up as it relates to the previous implementation of Oracle Revenue Management Cloud Services (“RMCS”)
    • Investigate and validate large volumes of data to determine issues and corrections required of the revenue accounting system
    • Test and reconcile configuration and system process to determine best methods for corrections of the revenue accounting systems.
    • Assist in building checks and balances controls with new system
  • Calculate Standalone Selling Price (SSP) on a periodic basis for use in RMCS allocations.
  • Review non-standard contracts to determine revenue recognition, contract terms and other relevant information
  • Maintain an up to date and thorough knowledge of the technical accounting policies, including Nextiva’s internal Revenue Recognition Policy
  • Participate in process development and continuous improvement projects
  • Develop and establish business partnering relationships with key stakeholders such as Sales, Sales Operations, Professional Services, Device Product Development, Billing, FP&A, Accounting, IT and Legal
  • Lead, assist or participate in Revenue Recognition projects as directed by Director of Accounting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required
  • CPA and Big 4 firm, preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years public accounting experience preferred
  • Strong GAAP knowledge, ASC 606 and ASC 340-40 knowledge required
  • Strong experience and familiarity with quote to cash cycle, specifically knowledge of sku and product hierarchies as well as Software-as-a-Service companies
  • Prior experience with revenue recognition and contract management systems. Oracle Revenue Management (RMCS) and Salesforce preferred
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel w/power user abilities to perform pivots, LookUps, etc
  • Plus for user knowledge of high-powered computing tools such as Alteryx and PowerBI
  • Excellent analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and to complete them in a timely manner in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to take initiative, identify issues, act independently, and communicate and present recommendations to senior management
  • Ability to analyze complex data and communicate observations in a simplified manner
  • Strong business judgement and ability to work extended hours as needed
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with various levels in the organization, be a revenue recognition champion with the ability to communicate in “plain-english” revenue concepts to non-revenue colleagues.
