The Area Manager, Retail (Sales) is responsible for driving regional sales growth, acquiring new shippers, and expanding market share. They develop and implement strategic sales plans, manage key customer relationships, and ensure sales targets are met. Working closely with Area Supervisors, they oversee store operations, provide training, and ensure consistency in service quality. They manage budgets, track financial performance, and identify cost-saving opportunities. Additionally, they mentor and develop future leaders, monitor market trends, and collaborate with senior management to refine strategies. Their goal is to enhance sales performance, customer satisfaction, and overall business success across multiple retail locations.
Responsibilities
Shippers Acquisition & Business DevelopmentResearch and analyze market trends to identify potential shippers and new sales opportunities.Implement targeted sales campaigns to acquire new shippers and grow market share.Build a pipeline of potential customers through networking, referrals, cold calling, and business development initiatives.Engage with key decision-makers, present solutions, and finalize agreements to secure new business.Develop trust-based relationships with new customers to ensure long-term business partnerships.
Customer Relationship Management (CRM) & Key Account HandlingWork with Area Supervisors to manage relationships with high-value or strategic clientsEnsure feedback from major customers is gathered and addressed to improve products/servicesAct as the primary contact for complex or high-level customer issues
Strategic Sales LeadershipDevelop and implement sales strategies and plans that align with overall company objectives.Set regional sales targets and ensure each store or territory is on track to meet or exceed these targetsMonitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to refine sales tactics
Financial & Budgetary ControlCreate and manage the sales budget for the region or cluster of storesTrack and analyze financial performance, ensuring profitability targets are met or exceededIdentify areas for cost reduction or efficiency gains without compromising service quality
Oversight, Coordination, & Training of Store OperationsConduct regular reviews with Area Supervisors to assess store sales, operations, and key performance metricsEnsure stores have the necessary tools, manpower, and budget to meet sales and service targetsImplement best practices across all stores to maintain brand consistency and service qualityOrganize training programs for Area Supervisors and store teams to improve selling techniques, customer service, and product knowledgeMentor Area Supervisors, helping them enhance their management skills and develop into stronger leadersEnsure store teams are proficient in using sales systems, CRM tools, and reporting platforms to enhance efficiency
Team Development & LeadershipProvide leadership, guidance, and professional development opportunities to Area SupervisorsEvaluate the performance of Area Supervisors, set developmental goals, and foster a high-performance cultureIdentify potential leaders within the team and groom them for future managerial roles
Reporting & Communication with Senior ManagementConsolidate and present sales data, market insights, and operational challenges to senior leadershipProvide data-driven suggestions for improving sales strategies, entering new markets, or refining operational processesWork with other departments (Marketing, Finance, Operations) to ensure alignment with overall business objectivesRequirements
Minimum qualification of Diploma, with relevant industry experience.More than 2 years of experience working in retail stores.Professional fluency in English & Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin is an added advantage.Proven success in being a team leader of a fully functional team.Hands-on work experience with a proven track record in reaching and exceeding goals.Strategic thinker with ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; solve complex problems, and develop creative solutions.Effective verbal communication, with the ability to serve a wide range of customers.Possesses their own transportation.
