Pinterest is one of the fastest growing online advertising platforms, generating >$3B revenue annually. APAC advertising business is an emerging sector and has been growing rapidly on Pinterest. In this role, you will build and lead a tiger engineering team responsible for building product and platform solutions for APAC advertising partners, helping them scale and be successful on Pinterest.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Recruit and build Pinterest’s very first Singapore engineering team; Bootstrap a tiger team with  fullstack/backend engineers and PADS, and incubate a team culture of excellence with great local talents.
  • Collaborate with XFN stakeholders and US partner teams across the organization to drive ads product and platform innovations, meeting the evolving needs from advertisers and helping unlock business success.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive product engineering strategy with product partners, aligning with our most critical business goals. Lead the team to execute against the roadmap, actively identify new product/platform opportunities and ensure a great advertiser experience for advertising partners through timely support.
  • Mentor engineers to develop their careers and achieve their goals, setting the technical vision, guiding the day-to-day execution, as well as fostering good team health and culture.
  • Act as a stalwart of technical quality and excellence on the team, ensuring the solutions we deliver have a high level of polish and reliability.

 

What we’re looking for:

  • 2+ years of engineering management experience, and/or tech lead experience in 5+ people team (3+ years)
  • 8+ years of backend/fullstack engineering experience in building large-scale systems and products.
  • Strong proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g. Python, Java), data analysis tools (e.g. SQL, Python).
  • Strong project planning and execution skills, as well as people and career development skills to drive an effective and healthy team.
  • Strong empathy for the pain-points faced by business clients, passion to solve ambiguous problems and curiosity to deep dive into new technical and product domains.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong proficiency in both English and Mandarin for effective communication with internal teams and external partners.
  • Familiarity with ads domain
  • Experience in APIs, Data Processing & Storage (e.g. Kafka, Flink, MySQL)
  • Knowledge of machine learning, ranking, information retrieval or recommendation systems.

 

In-Office Requirement Statement:

  • We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection. 
  • This role will need to be in the office or in front of our customers for in-person collaboration, typically 2 days per week and therefore needs to be in a commutable distance from one of the following offices
