Software Engineer II, Security

Pinterest’s Security team is seeking a Software Engineer with solid knowledge in security best practices in software engineering. You will build solutions that address product security risks effectively. You will be responsible for developing security libraries and frameworks that benefit the entire engineering community at PInterest. You will work with cross-functional teams to improve our overall application security posture and make our products more secure.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Own team level projects from end to end and contribute to organizational initiatives
  • Design, develop, and maintain security libraries and frameworks used across diverse engineering teams
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security practices
  • Conduct security design reviews and code reviews to identify potential security gaps
  • Contribute to incident response efforts

 

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience in software development with a focus on security practices and frameworks
  • Strong software engineering skills and proficiency in programming languages like Python and Java
  • Solid understanding of common web and mobile vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top Ten)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the attacker mindset to anticipate potential vulnerabilities
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively across teams
  • Enthusiastic about teaching and mentoring others on security topics to promote a culture of security awareness
  • Past experience in API security and account security is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field or equivalent experience

In-Office Requirement Statement:

  • We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
  • This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times every 6-months and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country.
