As a Principal Digital Forensics and Insider Risk Engineer, you'll shape and implement our Insider Risk and Digital Forensics program. You'll be our internal expert, setting strategy and building systems to protect Roblox's critical assets from internal threats. Working closely with the larger Information Security (InfoSec) team, you'll guide the design and implementation of security systems.

You'll be part of the Detection and Response (DART) team, reporting to the Manager of Threat Assessment. You'll collaborate with the InfoSec team, various Engineering teams, and the SIRT, IR, and SIEM teams within InfoSec to safeguard our platform and users.

You Will:

  • Be our internal subject matter expert: to set strategy and build out the systems and processes that will allow Roblox to protect its most critical assets from internal threats.
  • Work closely: with the rest of the Security team to guide design and implementation of security systems.
  • Be a founding member: of the Digital Forensics and Insider Risk team at Roblox, and you'll have a big impact on how we secure the metaverse.

You Have:

  • 7+ years: of relevant professional experience in digital forensics and insider risk management.
  • Experience: writing and maintaining scripts in languages such as Go or Python; producing data sets for legal review; understanding instrumentation and detection methods used in insider risk.
  • Deep understanding: of digital forensics; insider threat; maintaining chain of custody for digital evidence; hands-on experience with modern SIEM/SOAR/UEBA tools.
  • Knowledge: of security concepts including DLP, eDiscovery, Digital Forensics, SIEM/EDR, and Incident Response.
  • Skills: strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; excellent communication; ability to work in a team and independently; adaptability to evolving threats and technologies.

  • Collaborative: You love working with your direct team and cross-functional partners.
  • Thoughtful of build vs. buy decisions: Comfortable with deploying and configuring Open Source software, but you also review what tools are available.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity: You can gather data and make informed decisions when there is no clear answer.

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

Annual Salary Range
$283,780$331,640 USD

Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
