As the Manager of the Platform Services team, you will lead and expand our distributed team, aiming to provide highly available, reliable and scalable tools/services infrastructure that enables us to develop, test, debug and release enterprise-grade software at a blistering pace. Your impact will reverberate through our platform and contribute to our customers' success.

Engineering Managers at Snowflake are expected to have a technical background and will have either prior experience in the domain they are managing, or the talent to learn the area if required. Outside of Engineering-specific decision-making, the bar is high in terms of critical thinking, communication, and sound decision-making. Managers who share a belief in the importance of these non-technical traits alongside the desire to build novel, best-in-class engineering, will excel in our environment.

As an Engineering Manager at Snowflake, you will be expected to:

  • Develop and execute the strategic vision for the Platform Services team, focusing on infrastructure, quality, and scalability.
  • Oversee projects from ideation to deployment, ensuring timely delivery and quality.
  • Work collaboratively with other engineering teams and cross-functional units to improve the platform and offer feedback.
  • Be a mentor and coach, focused on advancing your team’s skills and career development.
  • Prioritize and allocate resources wisely, navigating through both planned projects and unplanned issues.
  • Lead initiatives to share knowledge across teams through demos, meetups, and working groups.
  • Advocate for best practices in infrastructure, security, and established platform engineering processes.
  • Partner with other leaders in the Engineering and Product organizations on quarterly planning, staffing, and project schedules.
  • Use your strong foundation as a technical leader to reliably deliver on complex projects while keeping the quality bar high
  • Grow the team by recruiting and hiring new team members and growing existing ones

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, preferably in distributed systems and platform engineering.
  • 2+ years of proven engineering management experience.
  • Proven track record of growing teams and delivering complex projects.
  • Experience in designing and building advanced CI/CD pipeline frameworks with great developer experience in mind.
  • Strong track record in designing and implementing secure engineering infrastructure architecture.
  • Excellent problem-solving sklls and being a guru at troubleshooting.
  • Strong focus on quality, performance, and security.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
