SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.
PRODUCTION CONTROL SCHEDULER (LAUNCH HARDWARE)
Launch Hardware aims to upgrade Falcon/Dragon/Starship processing facilities, launch pads, and recovery vessels to make aircraft-like launch operations a reality. Our challenge is to execute many construction and fabrication projects in parallel at unrivaled speed. Robust pre-planning and constant change is the norm. As a Launch Hardware Scheduler, you will proactively identify blockers to progress, attack every problem enthusiastically, and remove hurdles. You are a self-starter and team player who has the hunger to venture quickly into unknown areas and solve a problem. Aerospace experience is not required to be successful here - rather, we look for inventive, motivated, collaborative people who respond rapidly to requests.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Take complete ownership of production scheduling for a given production work center, including managing tactical day-to-day tasks as well as projecting long-term needs for the department
- Coordinate and review input from engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and business development to support and maintain Master Schedules for products using Microsoft Office or applicable software as required
- Work across all departments to understand critical work requests ahead and behind targets to mitigate schedule impact risks
- Understand MRP requirements and logic for your hardware, and lead cross-functional efforts to manage and improve MRP accuracy to create better alignment between targeted and actual schedules (Work across all departments to ensure MRP dates align with current fabrication schedules)
- Utilize our Factory Scheduler application and other applicable tools to ensure work is scheduled and prioritized accurately and efficiently, and resources allocated appropriately
- Work with production teams to set, track, and execute daily and weekly goals for the work center
- Prepare daily work schedules, track work progress, update and communicate project critical path schedules, and advise leadership of needed adjustments to daily work activities
- Ensure fixture, tooling, and test equipment requirements are properly scheduled to facilitate an efficient production process
- Support accuracy of internal logistics movement of critical work
- Push/pull work into the shop to improve lead times, reduce stagnation, and meet schedule needs
- Build strong relationships with customers as well as internal/external suppliers and establish high accuracy means of communication for both estimated hardware needs and completion dates
- Leverage SQL Queries and Excel databases to identify hardware shortages for upcoming builds and lead the charge to pull this hardware into your production area
- Identify and support improvement opportunities for product yield, quality, safety, cost, and team efficiency
- Drive down near-term and future schedule risk by conducting work-center level capacity analysis, identifying model and communication gaps that cause schedule slips, and leading initiatives (reactive and proactive)
