PRODUCTION MANAGER (TANK WELDMENT)
As a Production Manager for Tank Weldment, you will lead a team of skilled Technicians and Supervisors in welding the primary structure of the Falcon Rocket. You will ensure the team is consistently performing with the highest levels of quality and rate at the lowest possible cost. You will be involved in all aspects of Production including strategic rate planning, facilities upgrades, capital projects, staffing, and leadership development to ensure your team’s success and growth. Additionally, you will work closely with engineering teams to continuously improve area capability and design for manufacturability.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage operations and personnel for the Tank Weldment Production
- Develop Supervisors and Technicians through standardized training, personal growth plans, and focused goals
- Continuously improve area safety, quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness through large scope initiatives
- Network with managers of other production areas, engineering groups, and support groups to foster a collaborative and productive working environment
- Communicate performance of the area through data analysis and presentation of key metrics
- Work with upper management to align the goals and output of Tank Weldment area with the company direction
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4+ years of experience working in an aerospace or high-critical manufacturing environment
- 2+ years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or 4+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
- Engineering
- Production operations
- Supply chain management
- Military operations
- 2+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing or production
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 1+ year of experience working with motion-controlled machines and special processes (welding, additive manufacturing, automated inspection, etc.)
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles
- Experience using SQL to navigate large datasets to create and monitor key performance metrics
- Experience identifying and analyzing production process improvements for rate and quality
- Experience working with large-scale manufacturing machines
- Experience working with controls systems or programming
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels in the organization, including production technicians, engineering, and the Executive level
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be willing to work flexible and/or extended hours to meet critical deadlines
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. unassisted
- Able to travel for short and extended trips as needed – up to 10%
- This position is based in Hawthorne, CA and requires being onsite – remote work not considered
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Manager: $130,000.00 - $180,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
