Squarespace is looking for a Senior Technical Product Manager to join our Foundations team within the Acuity Scheduling department. Acuity Scheduling, a distinct brand within Squarespace's suite of products, helps appointment-based businesses start and grow their service by allowing their clients to directly schedule appointments, removing administrative burden and providing more time to focus on what they love doing.

As a Senior Technical Product Manager on Acuity Scheduling's 'Foundations' team, you'll take the lead on designing and evolving our product's technical architecture with a focus on core features. This role is a blend of technical expertise and product management, working directly with a single, cross-functional team to align the technical direction with product goals. If you have a strong foundation in data architecture or systems design, and you're excited about driving innovation and scalability, we want to meet you.

This is a hybrid role working 2-3 days per week from our NYC headquarters. You will report to the Group Product Manager on the Acuity Scheduling team.

You'll Get To...

  • Product Ownership: Act as the primary product owner for your team, setting the roadmap and priorities based on technical feasibility, user impact, and business goals.
  • Technical Strategy & Roadmap: Collaborate with engineers to define a scalable technical strategy that aligns with product goals, focusing on data architecture, systems design, and service-based solutions.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, data science, and UX teams to understand requirements, manage trade-offs, and deliver solutions that balance speed and scalability.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Translate technical architecture and system requirements into clear, actionable items for stakeholders across the company, including senior leadership and non-technical teams.
  • Quality, Security & Performance Optimization: Focus on the system's stability, reliability, and scalability by working closely with the engineering team on continuous improvement, platform security and technical debt management.

Who We're Looking For

  • Experience: 4-6 years in product management or a technical role with product ownership, preferably within a data-driven environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong background managing teams owning data architecture, systems design, and service-based architecture (e.g., microservices), with the ability to engage deeply in technical discussions and decisions.
  • Systems Thinking: Proven experience in end-to-end system thinking and design, including a strong grasp of component-based architectures, data storage options, and integration layers.
  • Data Architecture: Hands-on experience with data modeling, database design, and data warehousing principles, including familiarity with large data model improvement initiatives.
  • APIs & Integration: Understanding of RESTful API design and integration patterns to ensure seamless interoperability between services and systems.
  • Analytical Mindset: Proficiency in using data to inform decisions autonomously, including experience with data analysis and product analytics tools.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, bridging the gap between product vision and technical execution.
  • Agile Experience: Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including backlog management, sprint planning, and cross-functional team collaboration.
  • Project Management: Familiarity with project management tools like Jira, Asana, or similar.

Nice To Have

  • Technical Transformation: Experience leading teams and/or organizations from a monolithic architecture to service oriented.
  • Identity Experience: High level understanding of and experience with Oauth as it pertains to user identity needs.
  • Technical Documentation: Develop and maintain documentation for data architecture, service flows, and system dependencies to ensure alignment and knowledge-sharing within the team.
