You will report to the Product Engineering Team Lead working hybrid-onsite through our New York City headquarters.
We are hiring for the following product team(s):
- Invoicing Tools: This team enables merchants who sell custom and project-based services to create a professional, convenient client experience – from managing leads to converting clients to getting paid. We are a product team owning user experiences including an editor for creating and sending legal documents, tooling for billing clients via invoices and dashboards for managing client projects. As a backend engineer on the team, you’ll work in a microservice architecture to build the APIs that power these experiences..
- Platform Billing: This team is part of the Monetization Platform at Squarespace. We’re the backend that powers most of Squarespace’s ability to bundle and invoice products. The Billing team handles customer subscriptions, contracts, and renewals, as well as making financial data available to our customers downstream. You’ll work on a team that’s building distributed services at scale that handle $700MM+ and millions of customers a year
You'll Get To…
- Write server-side code, create high-volume production applications, and develop prototypes quickly.
- Collaborate with other engineers and designers to provide intuitive customer-focused experiences.
- Ensure the reliability of systems essential to Squarespace users and businesses powered by Squarespace.
Who We're Looking For
- 3+ years of development experience in Java, Python, Go or another Object-oriented language. Experience developing large-scale software.
- A solid foundation in computer science, with competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design practices.
- A sincere commitment to creating readable code and an understanding of database schema design, caching and scalability.
- A degree in Computer Science or related or equivalent industry experience.

Cash Compensation Range: $96,500 - $173,500 USD
The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.
In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), all Squarespace employees are eligible to receive equity in the company as part of their total compensation.
