The Infinite Kitchen automates the assembly of meals for sweetgreen guests. The Infinite Kitchen—designed and engineered in-house—powers several sweetgreen locations across the country, but we are just getting started.
The Automation Team is looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to join us in the development of new features and the support of Infinite Kitchen restaurants.
We are looking for someone who is excited to work across the entire software stack. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to work alongside hardware and robotics and to see your solutions come to life with those systems. You will build new tools to help us scale and open new restaurants, new features to improve the team member experience, and new analytics to gain better insights into how our automated restaurants are running.
The ideal candidate has experience working with a modern web framework, building both backend and frontend systems, and collaborating on a team with other engineers, designers, and QA engineers. Most importantly, you are eager to learn, collaborate with others, and implement feedback. - Hybrid in our Boston office
What You’ll Do:
- Solve interesting problems: create software that works at the intersection of robotics, food, and people.
- Build features end-to-end: work on all steps required to bring a feature to life - write the database migration, update queries, create the API, consume the API, and implement the UI.
- Participate in technical and product decisions: brainstorm with the team when solving challenging problems and help document decisions.
- Test your solutions: write unit tests and run integration tests in our lab to ensure the reliability of our software.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1+ years of professional experience working in software development
- Experience using a modern web framework - like Phoenix, Django, Next.js, Ruby on Rails
- Experience building user interfaces with a modern frontend framework - like Vue, React, Angular
- Able to identify, analyze and communicate tradeoffs
- Able to identify and document different edge cases and states of a software system
- Eager to learn, ask questions, and be hands-on with end users, food and robotics
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Elixir and Phoenix
- Experience with Vue
- Experience building real-time APIs
- Experience with relational databases
- Experience with mobile/responsive frontends
- Experience with typed languages, e.g. Typescript
