Our vision is to be the universal symbol of trust, bringing consumers and businesses together through reviews. We are well on our way—but there’s still an exciting journey ahead. Join us at the heart of trust.
As a key member of the wider Trust & Safety team, you’ll play an essential role in setting a higher standard of trust online. You’ll be working to ensure that consumers, business, regulators, and other external stakeholders trust in our platform’s content, and in our commitment to doing the right thing. Your primary focus will be to help maintain Trustpilot’s reputation as a trusted and compliant platform, effectively navigating the challenges of an increasingly complex regulatory environment.
What you’ll be doing:
- Monitoring, reviewing and analysing new laws and regulations relating to a number of areas, including online safety, digital content and consumer protection in our key markets. This includes, for example, the UK’s Online Safety Act, the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumer Act, the EU’s AI Act and Accessibility Act, and Section 230 reform in the US
- Identifying areas for improvement, based on your developed knowledge of Trustpilot’s product and operations, designed to ensure our products and services are trusted by our customers and meet all legal requirements
- Independently forming well-reasoned and pragmatic recommendations for action, based on detailed analysis of ambiguous legal issues
- Delivering easily-understandable and actionable items for stakeholders, translated from complex legal and regulatory language
- Establishing an environment of ‘Trust By Design’, by providing effective direction, support and challenge to product, design and engineering teams
- Supporting the Public Affairs team on advocacy initiatives, including assisting with: developing consultation responses to regulators and policymakers, drafting amendments to legislative proposals, determining policy positions on regulatory issues and working with our advocacy membership groups
Who you are:
- A right to practice law in either Scotland, England & Wales or Denmark, with 3-6 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally partly in-house in the technology sector (or a regulated industry)
- Experience operating in a non-contentious regulatory role, collaborating with product and engineering teams to deliver customer-focused products
- Comprehensive legal technical skills: Expert analytical, drafting negotiation and communication skills. Knowledge of the European, UK and US regulatory framework relevant to online platforms is beneficial
- Growth mindset: Desire for continuous learning and experimentation, with an openness to new ideas
- Bias for action: A focus on outcomes, as opposed to outputs
- Work at pace: Ability to deliver multiple tasks and competing deadlines, whilst maintaining accuracy
- An enthusiasm for regulatory issues and helping internal stakeholders to understand them
- An interest in politics and current affairs, keeping your finger on the pulse of the regulatory environment - desirable, but not essential
What’s in it for you:
- A range of flexible working options to dedicate time to what matters to you
- Competitive compensation package + bonus
- 25 days holiday per year, increasing to 28 days after 2 years of employment
- Two (paid) volunteering days a year to spend your time giving back to the causes that matter to you and your community
- Rich learning and development opportunities are supported through the Trustpilot Academy, LinkedIn Learning, and Blinkist
- Pension and life insurance
- Health cash plan, online GP, 24/7, Employee Assistance Plan
- Full access to Headspace, a popular mindfulness app to promote positive mental health
- Paid parental leave
- Season ticket loan and a cycle-to-work scheme
- Central office location complete with table tennis, a gaming corner, coffee bars and all the snacks and refreshments you can ask for
- Regular opportunities to connect and get to know your fellow Trusties, including company-wide celebrations and events, ERG activities, and team socials.
- Access to over 4,000 deals and discounts on things like travel, electronics, fashion, fitness, cinema discounts, and more.
