Voodoo is creating a new studio with a very exciting and ambitious mission: release the next $1B Match 3 game, pioneering the next generation in this category. We aim to elevate quality and innovation in casual, redefine industry standards, and deliver fun to a broad audience. You will be joining this studio as a Senior 3D Character Artist.
Role
We are looking for a passionate 3D Character Artist to join our dynamic team in the mobile gaming industry. In this role, you will be responsible for creating high-quality 3D character models that capture the essence of our games, ensuring every detail, from textures to rigging, meets the highest standards. You’ll play a key part at Voodoo in shaping our games’ visual identity and contribute to a diverse range of character designs, with a strong emphasis on stylized aesthetics suited for mobile platforms. Model, texture, and sculpt appealing stylized characters, ensuring they fit our creative vision and performance requirements.Prepare characters for animation by building efficient, flexible rigs and applying proper skinning to enable smooth, believable movements in Unity.Balance visual fidelity with mobile performance; apply best practices in polycount management, texturing, and shader setup so characters look amazing without compromising FPS.Work closely with the Art Director and Principal 3D Artist to maintain a cohesive style across all characters, ensuring a fun and unified look for our Match-3 universe.Collaborate with VFX artists, animators, and game designers to integrate characters seamlessly into gameplay, implementing feedback efficiently through version control tools (e.g., Git).Help refine production pipelines to optimize asset creation, from concept to final engine implementation.Profile
5+ Years of Experience as 3D character modelling for mobile/console titles (casual or Match-3 experience is highly valued).Advanced skills in 3DsMax or Blender (or equivalent 3D software) and familiarity with Photoshop (or similar) for texturing/illustration.Experience integrating 3D assets into Unity, optimizing character performance on mobile platforms, and collaborating with technical teams.Comfortable building rigs, skinning characters, and working with animators to ensure characters animate fluidly.Strong eye for colour, shape, and form, capable of delivering fun and memorable designs that resonate with casual audiences.Basic understanding of shader creation, VFX, and version control to optimize art pipelines and preserve consistent quality.Excellent communication and organizational skills and receiving feedback in a collaborative environment.Benefits
