About the role:

The Director, Talent will be responsible for the Talent function of P&C, overseeing Talent Acquisition and Talent Development, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals and cultural transformation.  This newly created role will rebuild our talent function and will play a key part in shaping our talent strategy.  By enhancing our recruitment processes and building our employment brand while building a talent development strategy and supporting programs, this role will play a key part in building a high performance organization through a culture of continuous learning and development. 

Here’s How You Make an Impact:

  • Talent Acquisition:
  • Oversee the development of an inclusive recruitment process that reflects the values and strategic direction of Wave, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and a best-in-class candidate experience that attracts top talent
  • Optimize recruitment systems and processes to improve candidate experience and hiring manager satisfaction
  • Oversee the development and delivery of internal training and certification programs for hiring managers
  • Enhance and promote the company’s Employee Value Proposition and employer brand to attract high quality candidates and position the company as an employer of choice
  • Lead the development of innovative recruitment processes and sourcing strategies for difficult to fill positions

  • Talent Development:
  • Consult and collaborate with stakeholders across Wave to design and deliver impactful learning programs 
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive talent development strategy in collaboration with the P&C team that supports the company’s transformation and objectives
  • Work with the People Operations team to build out development planning and career pathing within the Growth module in our people management system
  • Oversee the design and delivery of training programs, including leadership development, technical skills training, and soft skills enhancement
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement ensuring that initiatives are aligned with business needs and employee career growth
  • Build relationships with external vendors and utilize, as needed
  • Contribute to performance management programs and processes through training to ensure all employees receive relevant and timely feedback throughout the year

  • Leadership:
  • Evaluate effectiveness of practices and processes and assess the need for change
  • Establish overall goals and objectives for the team, identifying areas for improvement and change and identifying metrics to analyze impact
  • Lead, motivate, and support a high-performing team of professionals
  • Exercise commercial mindedness while managing budgets and expenditures
  • Keep up-to-date on talent acquisition and talent development trends and practices
  • Champion equity and diversity in all talent programs and processes in support of an inclusive culture and work environment
  • You Thrive Here By Possessing the Following:

  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in talent management, with experience being a successful people leader
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field
  • Excitement about a greenfield opportunity
  • Relevant HR or L&D certifications are a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of talent sourcing and selection techniques and effective use of technology
  • Exceptional collaboration skills with a passion for building an inclusive work environment
  • Hands-on experience as a recruiter and using applicant tracking and recruitment tools
  • Experience with Lever and Lattice is an asset
