ABOUT THE ROLE
The Trade Desk is looking for a Tableau Engineer/Solution Architect with experience in managing Tableau Cloud globally. You will be supporting and advising The Trade Desk’s Business Intelligence and Data Science teams on all aspects of Tableau Cloud, including management, upgrades, performance tuning, configuration, and troubleshooting across our global cloud environment.
This position is intended for someone who is looking to partner closely with our Business Intelligence team and take ownership of the Tableau environments that they rely on. We have several improvement initiatives planned for this year, so we’re looking for a candidate who is excited to guide the further development of our Tableau environments as well as building out best practice processes that various teams follow when using Tableau. Your focus will be on driving the continued development and scaling of our Tableau Cloud environment as our team and their needs continue to grow.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand their business challenges, and propose effective data visualization strategies.
- develop and maintain the architectural vision for Tableau Cloud solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals and best practices.
- Oversee the deployment of Tableau Cloud solutions, ensuring best practices in data governance, performance optimization, and user experience.
- Partner with data engineers and analysts to integrate Tableau Cloud with existing data sources and ensure seamless data flow
- Provide training and support to end-users, helping them maximize the value of Tableau Cloud for their reporting and analytical needs.
- Stay updated on Tableau Cloud features, industry trends, and best practices, recommending improvements to enhance our offerings.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of architecture designs, processes, and user guides
- Collaborate with teams who seek to leverage Tableau as part of a custom solution
- Propose new ways to utilize the Tableau platform, ideas for better scaling, and analysis of new and upcoming features
WHO YOU ARE:
- 5 - 7+ years of relevant experience and BS degree of equivalent.
- Certification (e.g., Tableau Desktop Specialist, Tableau Server Certified Associate).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and data technologies (e.g., Snowflake, SQL, Vertica)
- Performance engineering: Focus on performance tuning, testing, and capacity planning both within Tableau and using additional tools (Snowflake, Tabjolt, etc.)
- Conviction in what you recommend: comfort and ease in educating and guiding internal stakeholders.
- Client-Centric: Experience owning engagements and providing best practice advice. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage expectations and internal stakeholder requirements

The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as sales-based incentives and commissions. Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full-time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year.
